Description
The iconic red and white stripes of Smeaton’s Tower on the Plymouth Hoe skyline is one of the most well-recognised scenes in the South West of England.
Originally located on the Eddystone Reef in the late 1750s, the structure (almost two thirds of it) was moved, stone by stone, and rebuilt in its current location on the Hoe. A popular tourist destination, it now houses a museum demonstrating its former glory, and affords those who climb to the top, wonderful views across Plymouth Sound.
