The spire symbolises the courage of World War II bomber crews and represents a beacon of hope and recognition. Its design features are inspired by the Avro Lancaster bomber, with its height matching the aircraft’s wingspan. The spire offers a framed view of Lincoln Cathedral, a landmark that was a welcome sight for returning crews, signifying their safe return.
