Description

The thriving town of Topsham is located by the Exe Estuary, a busy and popular waterway, used by a variety of boaters, as well as bird watchers. My design depicts a typical view across the water from Topsham in the early evening sunlight.

Interesting fact: the formation of the estuary dates back to the Ice Age. Referred to as a ‘ria’ the estuary was formed through rises in sea-level, flooding the unglaciated river valley formed by the River Exe. This formation explains the large size of the estuary in comparison to the outflow of the Exe. A little something for all you geographers out there!
Away from the science of fluvials, the area in and around Topsham is stunning: the town boasts an outdoor pool, independent shops and restaurants, Dart’s Farm is on the doorstep and the Exe Trail runs right through it, providing off road access from Exmouth to Exeter and to the opposite side of the water, to Dawlish.
